September 27

I'm overcompensating this morning. I should have started last week when I saw the monarch butterflies on the thistle. So here are a few extra shots.

The downside of the cheap camera is the lack of focus at times.

Introduction

who I was ::
a twenty-year old art student from the midwest, scrapping away through college and weighing in at 135 lbs. and five foot six. I was hungry... not just to eat but to make a creative mark on the world

who I am ::
Fast forward, I've followed my ambition, had that Big Important Job, but moved back to the comfortable midwest suburbs with my husband of 11 years, to raise my two kids in the safety of good public schools. I'm not hungry. In fact, I'm fat. I weigh in at 177.5 lbs. But I am still hungry to make a creative mark on the world.

what are the two goals ::
I need to exercize. I need to walk. But I refuse to fit the local "going to the gym" stereotype. I'm an art major, not a sorority girl.

I need to be creative. I need to make stuff. I need a project.

So the goals are: walk the local trail and take photos along the way. I need to be true to myself.
The rules: no I-phone. No checking email along the way. No angry rock songs to motivate me. Just me, the tweeting birds, and my digital camera. I'm using a Kodak EastShare v153... if it falls into a puddle, I won't cry. I have a new big-girl Nikkon, but I'm still trying to figure it out. Plus it's honking huge.

Wish me luck.
